Procedure and Incisions:
Different incisions can be used according to each problem. It can be in the scalp, beginning above the ears and hidden within the hair. Sometimes, the incision has to be placed in front of the hairline. Through the incision, wrinkles and frown lines are treated, excess skin is removed, and the eyebrows can be adjusted. Another technique uses an endoscope, attached to a video camera. Through tiny incisions in the scalp the endoscope allows the plastic surgeon to see and work on the forehead wrinkles. The advantage of this technique is that it needs very small incisions, but it is not for all patients.

Some mild discomfort can be controlled with oral painkillers. Swelling and bruising of the forehead may happen and may involve the eyelid and cheek areas. This usually resolves in 15 days. Camouflage makeup can help after the first 48 hours. Numbness and itching of the scalp can last for a few weeks.

Risks:
Fortunately, significant complications from a forehead lift are infrequent. Some of the minor complications include hematoma (an accumulation of blood under the skin that may require removal), infection and reactions to anesthesia. In some instances, prolonged numbness and itching can happen, minor temporary hair loss at the site of the incisions.

Details:
Recovery time varies depending on the type of surgery and incisions, but it is frequently possible to resume normal activities in just a few days. However, strenuous activity and exercising should be avoided for the first month.

Several years. Sometimes permanent.
